John Tate, age 65, of Weston, was arrested on Wednesday, Jan. 26, by Wilton Police for performing the renovations on a Wilton home.
His arrest is the result of an investigation related to extensive remodeling work on the victim's residence, Wilton Police said.
Tate is alleged to have completed work without a home improvement contractor's license, without obtaining appropriate permits, and violating other provisions of home improvement laws, police said.
Tate turned himself in to the police and was charged with 16 counts of violating home improvement contract requirements.
He was released after posting 10 percent of a $20,000 cash bond.
